Tickets for the Pope
Multi Grafik GmbH, a nagelsgroup company based in Kempen, was proud to be awarded the tender to produce entry tickets for the Pope’s recent visit to Germany.
When Pope Benedict XVI came to Germany in September, he visited Berlin, Erfurt, Etzelsbach and Freiburg, where he ministered and gave many speeches. He even addressed the German parliament and spoke about the relationship between politics and the church in times of a debt crisis. More than 100.000 people saw the Pope in Freiburg on the third day of his state visit and attended his final divine service.
In order to get such a big event organised, a tender was announced by the Secretary of the Deutsche Bischofskonferenz for the production of specially-encoded entry tickets, only four weeks before the visit. Multi Grafik GmbH, a specialist in printing and advertising, were awarded the prestigious order in the end. As a member of the international Nagels Group, the order was in good hands all the way through production, from the initial artwork design to printing and despatch.
The importance of having special know-how in the field of protection against forgery was demonstrated when some tickets were offered for sale on the internet - although they were originally free of charge. Thanks to the co-operation between Multi Grafik GmbH and the Deutsche Bischofskonferenz, the entry tickets had been produced with special security features, such as embossing and holograms, as well as special security inks.
These special security features were key to preventing the forgery of illegal copies, although the sale of some original tickets could not be avoided completely.
